ABOUT THE AUTHOREmily Ayres is a writer, creative entrepreneur, and proud Semester at Sea alum whose life was forever shaped by the Spring 2014 voyage. What began as a journey across oceans became the foundation of her worldview — that curiosity is a form of courage, that connection is a responsibility, and that the world is best understood through shared experience.
Emily lives in San Diego with her husband, Jake, their four legged co-pilot Duncan, and their daughter Junie, who inspires every page she writes. Their home is filled with books, maps, and the joyful chaos of a toddler discovering the world — a daily reminder that wonder is something we grow, nurture, and share.
Semester at Sea & The Wonder of We is Emily's debut picture book and a love letter to the voyage that changed her life. Through it, she hopes to spark curiosity, celebrate global connection, and remind readers of all ages that we belong to one another — no matter where the waves carry us.
